Flip flops can damage your health
Perfect for hot weather, they have been the fashion hit of the summer.
But doctors have warned flip flops can be as bad for your health as they are for your career.
Business chiefs said last month that wearing them to work was an invitation to be sacked.

Go bold with shoes, accessories
This season, it’s all about the shoes and accessories. Metal accents, along with snake and alligator skins are all back in a big way.
As with women’s fashion, shoes are taken to the extreme this season.
“Everything is flat, flat, flat or super heels, and the chunkier the better,” said Joyce Calver, owner of Footsies slated to open in Galveston in September.
Fashions this season are tighter on the legs with skinny pants and leggings, and that has put shoes up front and center.

Top 5 summer accessories
1 Sandals
It's not guaranteed you'll fit into them, let alone walk in them, but this season's sandals are stunning: jeweled and glittering, studded and sequenced, flat, strapped or stiletto. For sturdier, singular versions, head from the well worn Shaanxi Nan Lu onto Xinle Lu and check out Cry Baby, G.L.V., and Hong Kong's Angell Orb.
2 Hats
Hide from the heat under the wide and wavy rim of a sophisticated sun hat or behind the visor of a sporty summer cap. Best bet: Raffles City. Elle has a sweeping set of droopy and elegant summer hats, while Lids tops the city's selection of funky caps.
3 Bags
Rather than toting around a sweaty leather purse this summer, ease your load with cotton, wicker or canvas style bags. Christine Tsiu's Fashion Club on Xinle Lu carries some lovely woven handbags. For eclectic selection and affordable prices check out Exit 5 at Jing'an Temple, particularly Yun Ling Xio Ba, and stalls A-003 and A-133.

Dont rely on fashion for sunglasses
Sunglasses aren't just fashion accessories anymore; they provide necessary protection for your eyes.
Most consumers are aware of sun exposure's danger to the skin, but don't know the sun's rays can also damage the eyes. To correctly shield the eyes, consumers must know how to select appropriate sunglasses, since wearing the wrong type can do more harm than good.
Ultraviolet (UV) light is made up of invisible rays emitted by the sun. UVB and UVA are the two UV rays of concern. UVB rays burn the skin and can easily damage the eyes. Continuous exposure to UVB rays in combination with bright sunlight can cause cataracts. UVB rays can also create a cancer zone by penetrating the eyelids, raise the chances of developing a melanoma on the delicate skin around the eyes and cause wrinkles. UVA rays are what the eye lens primarily absorbs. Although there is currently no proof UVA rays cause damage or blindness, doctors recommend keeping your eyes covered to block these rays as well.

The height of stylish impracticality
Women are used to suffering for fashion, but the latest crop of high-heeled shoes is just about unwearable, says Clare Coulson
Unless you spend your Saturdays shoe-shopping only in LK Bennett, you will probably have noticed that something strange has happened to footwear. Chunky, clunky and not very chic, designer shoes are getting higher and stranger by the season. The cult of the ugly, almost-impossible-to-wear shoe is well and truly upon us.

Gold Makes For Brilliant Fall Fashion
Fall is in the air, and if you’ve already been shopping for your new wardrobe, you’ve probably seen some brilliant fashions. This season it’s all about metallic, specifically gold.
All that glitters is gold in clothing, accessories and accents on everything.
“We’re seen gold around for a long time. I definitely feel very strongly that it’s not a fad,” said Melissa Hoffmann, manager of the store Scoop. “It’s a trend that’s here to stay. Any age can wear it, whether it’s a thread in a gold shirt or hardware on a bag, it’s really a trend that’s here to stay.”

Style flash: Accessories add sparkle
Pop quiz, Stylish Reader: What’s a furbelow? Answer: A ruffle or flounce on a garment or a piece of showy ornamentation. Last season, we were addicted to furbelows and anything sparkly, embroidered or beaded. This year, designers are making us drop the habit cold turkey for clothing but allowing us a little bit of flash in accessories.

From charms to crystals: Cellphones becoming part of fashion
For Denise Albert, choosing a cellphone has nothing to do with ring tones, instant messages or megapixels.
"To me, it's what it looks like," said Albert, a 53-year-old campaign fundraiser from suburban Powell. "I want a good design. Period."
Albert represents a fashion trend marketers are tapping into as they offer mobile phones with sleeker designs and in more colors, such as blue and pink, and accessories ranging from charms and stickers to crystals and tiny designer purses. While some accessories are for necessity — such as in-car chargers — others are for personalization

Clearly, style is changing for sunglasses
I am about to get prescription sunglasses for the first time. Until now, I have been buying new sunglasses every time I saw a style that caught my eye and never spent more than about $25 on a pair. Now that I will be spending considerably more on sunglasses with prescription trifocal lenses, I want to make sure I choose frames that will still look fashionable two years from now. My latest pair of cheap shades have huge, black Jackie-O-style frames. I love them, but will the look last?

London Fashion Blog: Bling Buckles

Christmas Jewelry Gift Trends 2006: Designer Cufflinks for the New Renaissance Gentleman
Long exiled to the back of a gentleman’s sock drawer, cufflinks have made a stylish comeback in 2006, just in time for women struggling to find the perfect Christmas gift for the men in their lives. John Hardy has his cable and lava cufflinks; David Yurman his cable and onyx sets; Scott Kay his basket-weaves. And powering the design trend today is revivalist California designer Carl Blackburn, who for several years has sparked the continued demand for vintage-style fine diamond jewelry in stores across the United States.

In the bag
Most women are as passionate about handbags as Charlton Heston is about guns. It's an odd love affair that began in earnest in the 1920s but reached the obsession stage in the late 1980s.

Dress up a dull fashion forecast with colorful accessories
Fashion's sober look this season poses a few challenges.
First, there's a color palate of black, gray, white and other neutrals. Then there's a new silhouette that puts voluminous shirts on top of skinny, slim-legged trousers. And then there's the added emphasis on layering - with skin-tight leggings a la the 1980s among those layers.
