After having songs, films and books dedicated to it, the world's smallest piece of clothing has turned 60. Fashion trends trickle down to childrens clothes
Some of fall's top fashion trends are trickling down - way down - to children's clothes.
When kids go back to school, they'll likely be wearing darker denim, gauchos, long shorts and skinny pants just like their teenage siblings and even their parents. Family-style fashion continues with rugby stripes, layers and novelty hosiery.

On the Globalisation of Fashion
Upon first glance, the images of men and women in Papua New Guinea dressed in tattered rags and shredded T-shirts tempt you to view them as yet another advertisement meant to elicit sympathetic donations.
Even the children — although smiling — wear filthy T-shirts held together only by carefully re-knotting the already detached shreds.
You may even feel a sense of guilt upon viewing the obvious Western influence in the dress of these people. They appear to live in such poverty, and their traditional dress has now been replaced by one of the most simplistic mass-produced wares of the west — the T-shirt.

French photographers give new life to fashion
How many times has fashion been criticized for being fickle, churning out so-called trends season after season, only to be recycled after several years?
Another thorny question is whether the glossy fashion photography belongs to the walls of a museum or a gallery, or even called art, even when fashion is such crucial part of culture, and the influence of art on fashion, and vice versa, is undeniable.

Smart fabrics are back in fashion
There is even a museum there dedicated to its history, so there is no better place to weave together traditional Italian know-how with digital technology and come up with the next generation of cloth, what they are calling "smart fabric".
A company called Luminex has hit on the idea of weaving fibre-optics into fabric, so the wearer can really light up a room when they enter it.
Luminex's Cristiano Peruzzi says: "It is a fabric containing, amongst other things, fibre-optics, but there is also a technical side to it.

New York Fashion Week Goes Hollywood
It doesn't matter whether the stars are showing up to New York's annual Fashion Week to see the clothes or just be seen themselves, because, either way they are driving the photographers crazy.
Paris Hilton did her part, arriving at the Luca Luca show while pretending to talk on her cell phone in order to avoid having to speak to the press. Nicky Hilton, however, wasn't as interview shy. "It's pretty insane," she said, "but thank god I'm staying right across the street…so all I have to do is get in my elevator and walk ten steps and I am here."

Fashion Makers vs. Fashion Followers
he line between the fashion world and the wearable art designer has always been sort of blurry. Are we part of the fashion community who often wear our products, or are we on the outside since we wearable art designers are responsible for crafting fashion goods. How important is it for designers, for example jewelry designers, to keep up on current fashion trends when we actually should be the ones making the trends?
