On 1st August 1936, Yves Mathieu Saint Laurent was born in Oran, Algeria, where his father worked in insurance. When he was a child, they moved to France.He was a weak, spindly boy and suffered at the hands of his schoolmates, so he found solace at home becoming absorbed in drawing and painting. He designed dresses for his mother and two sisters, while still a teenager.
